Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin – Chamber Concert 3

To mark International Women’s Day, this concert draws attention to an imbalance that persists to this day in the art world, in music as well as in photography. Female artists and marginalized voices remain underrepresented in museums, programs, and the art-historical canon. That is why we want to advocate for greater visibility, diversity, and a more equitable cultural future through a dialogue of image and sound.

Works by Florence Price, Jessie Montgomery, Gabriela Lena Frank, and Caroline Shaw exemplify artistic voices that have had to assert themselves within a long history of male-dominated music. Combined with Daniel Bernard Roumain’s homage to Rosa Parks and Antonín Dvořák’s intercultural perspective, this creates a multifaceted musical plea for equality, diversity, and social change. All driven by the conviction that art opens spaces and shifts perspectives.
