4-Session Course on Effective Storytelling

Join our four-session Creative Writing Course and learn to craft compelling stories using observation, memory, and imagination. Led by Gurmeet Singh – a writer, editor and creative writing teacher – this course features diverse writing exercises designed to challenge conventional storytelling methods.

Drawing inspiration from a range of texts, literary techniques and imagery from the TOILETPAPER exhibition, you will explore how voice, structure, mood, and character development shape effective storytelling.

Whether you write fiction, poetry, or nonfiction – regardless of experience – this course will help you unlock new creative pathways and bring greater depth to your work.

The course consists of four sessions:

May 5: Generating Ideas

Where do stories come from? Writing exercises to develop observational and imaginative skills. Exploring memory, place, and sensory detail.

May 12: Voice & Perspective

How tone, style, and point of view shape a story. Experimenting with different narrative voices and perspectives.

May 19: Character & Structure

How to develop compelling characters and shape a story’s arc. Exploring dialogue, conflict, and pacing.

May 26: TOILETPAPER Exhibition

Using images from the TOILETPAPER exhibition for inspiration. Group discussions and feedback on final pieces. Final get-together at Verōnika Bar.
